The Beastie Boys have always had a stance against any of their music being licensed for commercials. That changed on Sunday when the group’s “Sabotage” played during an ad promoting Joe Biden.

In an ad focusing on Covid-19’s impact on the live music industry, the co-owner of the Michigan club The Blind Pig talks about how Trump’s response to the virus has impacted his business.

At about 40 seconds, Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage” kicks in, revealing the ad to be in support of Joe Biden. According to a Biden spokesperson, the group “never licensed music for an ad until now” and says that Beastie Boys agreed to do it “because of the importance of the election.”
