The next Smashing Pumpkins album will be “pretty different,” according to frontman Billy Corgan.

In a new interview, Corgan says he’s written 21 songs for the follow-up to 2018’s “Shiny and Oh So Bright, Volume 1” — and they’re unlike anything he’s written in the past. “I’ve been working on it for over a year,” he says. “It’s pretty different — in a good way, I think. Everybody that’s heard it likes it a lot, so that’s a good sign.”

Although Corgan hasn’t offered an estimated release date for the new album, he says the band is already planning on touring behind it.

Do fans want “pretty different” music from Smashing Pumpkins? How does Corgan’s new material compare to his old songs?
