Dave Grohl Wanted To Stage ‘Bitter’ Breakup To Promote Foo Fighters Album

Dave Grohl once had a plan to promote a new Foo Fighters album by staging a ‘bitter’ breakup.

In an interview with UK newspaper The Sun, Grohl laid out his “ridiculous idea”:  Each band member would write an autobiography “in which we would talk s*** about the other members”.

The band would then hold a press conference announcing they were breaking up, only to get back together two weeks after and announce a “reunion tour”.

Grohl said “We didn’t do it, but I thought it was a funny plan.”

Foo Fighters’ latest project isn’t an album, but the horror movie Studio 666, out this Friday.

Would Grohl’s plan have worked?  Didn’t Tenacious D pretty much already do this with “Kyle Quit The Band”?
