Democrats Introduce Bill that Calls for Federal Legalization of Marijuana

The U.S. is one step closer to legalizing weed on a federal level.

A coalition of Senate Democrats, including Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, has drafted a bill that seeks to end the federal ban on marijuana, Schumer revealed Wednesday. “The Senate has to catch up with the American people,” he says.

Recreational marijuana is currently legal in 18 states. Medical marijuana is legal in 37.

How would the federal government benefit from the legalization of marijuana?
