Dispensaries See Spike in Sales during Pandemic

Either California lawmakers were correct in declaring marijuana dispensaries “essential” businesses, or San Diego residents are looking for new ways to kill their newfound time. Either way, the city’s pot shops are reporting an increase in sales since the coronavirus outbreak began.

The owners of San Diego’s Hi Kei dispensary say business has been booming since they were deemed exempt from the governor’s shutdown orders; so much that they’ve been struggling to keep up with the demand for weed and marijuana products.

However, they also say they’ve changed the way they do business. Employees now wear masks and gloves when dealing with customers, and they stay at work well after closing every night to clean the shop — before a professional crew comes in to disinfect it.

Would it take just one infected batch of marijuana to force the shutdown of all dispensaries in the country? Have you been smoking more weed since the pandemic began?
