An ‘emergency veterinary summit‘ will be held this week to address the recent surge in horse deaths at Churchill Downs.

The meeting will be held Tuesday by the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Administration (HISA).

HISA said it a statement it was “deeply concerned by the unusually high number of equine fatalities at Churchill Downs over the last several weeks.”

12 horses have been euthanized at Churchill Downs since last month.

What do you think is behind these fatalities?  If they can’t be prevented, should horseracing be legal?
