FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr says NBC broke the rules by inviting Vice President Kamala Harris to appear on Saturday Night Live.

Carr posted to X that the last-minute invitation was “a clear and blatant effort to evade the FCC’s Equal Time rule”, which requires broadcasters to offer equal time to other campaigns.

Carr says the rule exists to prevent a network from “using the public airwaves to exert its influence for one candidate on the eve of an election.”

He said it would be up to FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel whether the agency took action.
