The song “Mary on a Cross” has lifted Ghost to a whole new milestone: The single has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

That means more than 1 million copies of the track have been sold. According to the RIAA, 150 on-demand streams is equivalent to the sale of one unit.

While the news marks the first time Ghost has gone platinum, four of the band’s previous singles have been certified gold – all in 2022. In addition to “Mary on a Cross,” 2015’s “Cirice,” 2018’s “Dance Macabre” and 2016’s “Square Hammer” received the honor last year.

Why is Ghost suddenly becoming more popular?
