Myspace lost all the music its users uploaded between 2003 and 2015.

Say it ain’t so, Tom!  This is why they say you should always have a backup of your data. In fact, you might want to have a backup of the backup. That sage advice is something you’d expect a major internet company like Myspace to know well, but apparently not.

Users noticed last year that music links stopped working on the site. Well now Tom’s company just copped to losing pretty much all photos, video, and music that was uploaded between 2003 and 2015.

The official statement from Myspace is: “As a result of a server migration project, any photos, videos, and audio files you uploaded more than three years ago may no longer be available on or from Myspace. We apologize for the inconvenience and suggest that you retain your back up copies.”

According to tech expert Andy Baio, the loss amounts to 50 million songs from 14 million artists over the 12 year period.

Do you still check Myspace??
