After a decade with the band, the members of Red Hot Chili Peppers decided it was time to part ways with Josh Klinghoffer and bring back their former guitarist, John Frusciante.

Sitting down at bassist Flea’s house, the band broke the bad news, details Klinghoffer in a new interview with Marc Maron for his WTF podcast.

“They just said, ‘We’ll get right to it. We’ve decided to ask John to come back to the band.’ And I just sat there quiet for a second and I said, ‘I’m not surprised’,” he reveals.

Despite the blow, Klinghoffer calls the dismissal “really sweet,” admitting he’s not too upset. “It’s absolutely John’s place to be in that band,” adding, “So that’s why I’m happy for him. I’m happy that he’s back with them.”

Ever got canned from a job? How would you describe the dismissal?
