Kentucky House Panel Advances Medical Marijuana Bill

The Kentucky House of Representatives is on the brink of passing a bill that would legalize access to medical cannabis for people suffering from a range of debilitating illnesses.
If the bill passes, it would go to Governor Andy Beshear for approval.
The bill would allow medical cannabis to be prescribed for conditions such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, chronic pain, epilepsy, chronic nausea and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Opponents of the bill have argued that there is insufficient scientific evidence to prove that marijuana is safe and effective as a medication.
The bill would require a person to be approved for a card allowing its use and would not take effect until 2025 to allow time to craft regulations.
