Kraftwerk Cofounder Dies at 73

Florian Schneider-Esleben, co-founder of the pioneering German band Kraftwerk, has died after a battle with cancer, Sony officials announced Wednesday. He was 73 years old.

Schneider-Esleben and Ralf Huetter began working together in 1968, forming the electronic band two years later. Over the course of the next three decades, Kraftwerk released 13 albums, including iconic releases like “Autobahn,” “Radio-Activity” and “Tour de France.”

Schneider-Esleben and his bandmates were honored with a lifetime achievement Grammy in 2014.
