Gondwana Research has revealed its new study which has found a “hidden continent” that broke off from Africa and was buried under Southern Europe around 140 million years ago. The lost continent of Greater Adria was discovered while researchers studied the evolution of mountain ranges in the Meditteranean.

Chances are you’ve probably seen this lost continent if you’ve ever visited the Alps or mountain ranges in Greece and Turkey. These areas have mountain ranges that are actually the scraped rocks of Adria being forced under Southern Europe 140 million years ago.

In 2017 two other “lost continents” were found; Zealandia which is 2/3 of a mil under the Pacific Ocean and one underneath lava under the Mauritius Islands.

Do you think countries will try to “claim” these continents? Do you think that scientists will find more hidden continents soon?
