Oh, won’t somebody please think of the fishes! According to a new study, the EDM beats from the Ultra Music Festival really stressed out aquatic life near the site.

Researchers from The University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science found that the high volume affected their toadfish hatchery on the barrier island Virginia Key.

The school revealed, “The stress response was higher than what would be experienced when being chased by a simulated predator and similar to when hearing bottlenose dolphins, a toadfish predator.”

On Wednesday, organizers penned an open letter on their Twitter, telling fans they have “voluntarily terminated” their license with the city and will seek a new location to be their permanent home.

Should festival organizers be more aware of how their events affect the environment? How do you protect your pets from loud noises?
