‘Major Breakthrough’ In Coronavirus Treatment

Researchers at Oxford University are hailing a steroid called dexamethasone as a “major breakthrough” for treating coronavirus.
The drug reduced death rates by one third in “severely ill” COVID-19 patients who were on ventilators or oxygen. Dexamethasone is already a cheap and widely available treatment for arthritis and inflammation.
Now UK officials are fast-tracking it for treatment and stockpiling 200,000 doses of the drug.
How big a breakthrough is this for the pandemic? How long before a full vaccine is available?
