A man smuggling 246 packets of cocaine in his stomach is dead after one of them apparently broke open.
The man, a 46-year-old Japan resident, was on an AeroMexico flight from Colombia to Japan last Friday when he began to suffer convulsions, an airline rep says. The plane made an emergency landing in Sonora, Mexico, where paramedics declared the man dead.
An autopsy over the weekend found that his stomach and intestines were filled with the coke baggies. Results released on Tuesday show he died from a cerebral edema brought on by a drug overdose.
