Meta is set to start the building of a nearly 700,000-square-foot data center facility at the River Ridge Community Center in Jeffersonville, IN.

Meta is the parent company that powers Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, and more.

Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb made the announcement on Thursday, making it one of the biggest announcements to come from the city of Jeffersonville in nearly 25 years.

According to a press release, the new center will create 100 operational jobs, as well as an anticipated 1,250 construction workers onsite at the peak of construction.

Though things were slowed by COVID, this project has been in the works since 2019.

Construction is set to start within the month and is expected to be completed in 2026.
