Citing a spike in North Carolina’s COVID-19 cases, NASCAR officials have decided to move this year’s All-Star Race from Charlotte Motor Speedway to Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee.

The move will mark the first time the July 15th event will be held at Bristol — and the first time this season that fans will be permitted to attend a NASCAR race. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has given his approval for 30,000 fans to attend.

The event is set to kick off at 4 p.m. EST with the ARCA Menards Series General Tire 150. The All-Star Open will begin at 7 p.m., with the All-Star Race following at 8:30 p.m.

Given the spike in North Carolina’s COVID-19 cases, is it a good idea to let 30,000 people attend the race — even if it is in Tennessee?
