Noel Gallagher: ‘The Band Thing Is Pretty Dead’
Former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher is offering his two cents on the current state of the music industry – and he says it isn’t very pretty.
“You have to accept that, the great stories we all see in the documentaries — it’s not possible anymore,” Gallagher says. “I don’t think the story of five guys from a council estate, who are gonna do what we did, is possible anymore. I think the band thing, at the moment, it’s pretty dead.”
That said, the guitarist adds, bands with true talent still have a shot at making it. “If you are good, you’ll get there,” Gallagher says. “There’s no question about it. But the music business has changed. You shouldn’t get into it to be famous or to be successful. The music itself is the reward.”
Why has the general public lost interest in bands?
