Petty Wars: The Aerosmith Edition

Nothing like matching pettiness with pettiness if you ask me!

Although he is an original member, Aerosmith’s Joey Kramer will 100% not be performing with his bandmates at the group’s scheduled Grammy and MusiCares Person of the Year events this weekend.

The drummer filed and lost a lawsuit against the rest of the band, claiming they unfairly excluded him from rejoining the group following temporary injuries he suffered. The decision comes with conflicting quotes from each camp, leading us to wonder what is really going on here…

In a piece by People, Aerosmith members Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton and Brad Whitford responded to the lawsuit;
“Joey Kramer is our brother; his well being is of paramount importance to us,” the statement said. “However he has not been emotionally and physically able to perform with the band, by his own admission, for the last 6 months. We have missed him and have encouraged him to rejoin us to play many times but apparently he has not felt ready to do so.”
Of course they say that they invited Kramer to join them as well…
“Joey has now waited until the last moment to accept our invitation, when we unfortunately have no time for necessary rehearsals during Grammys week,” the statement went on to say. “We would be doing a disservice to him, to ourselves and to our fans to have him play without adequate time to prepare and rehearse.”

Well that’s not exactly how Joey remembers it… He told his side of the story to the Rolling Stone;

“The band waited until January 15th to tell me that they weren’t letting me play at the awards ceremonies this week.”  He would go on to explain; “I was also sent the full rehearsal schedule on January 18th and flew to LA the next day to rehearse and have many texts and emails stating the band can’t wait for my return. That’s also a fact. When I showed up to rehearse, I was greeted by two security guards who prohibited me from entering.”

Who or what are we to believe here?
