Phone App Can Alert You When Someone With Coronavirus Is Near

A new app makes it possible to get an alert on your phone if someone with the coronavirus is nearby.

The app would track user’s locations through Bluetooth.  If someone using the app tests positive for the COVID-19, it tracks all phones that came within six feet of the user for at least 15 minutes, over the last two weeks.

The app would then notify those users, telling them to quarantine and get tested.

Millions have already signed up for the system, which is currently active in 15 states.

Would you sign up for a service like this, or does it feel like an invasion of privacy?  Would it even work considering it only tracks people who have signed up?
