Possible TikTok Ban?

The U.S. is considering a ban on TikTok along with other Chinese social media apps.

That’s according to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

His comments came Monday night as tensions grow between the U.S. and China.

Pompeo said, “With respect to Chinese apps on peoples’ cellphones, the United States will get this one right too.”

When he was asked by Fox News if Americans should download the social media app, Pompeo said, “Only if you want your private information in the hands of the Chinese Communist Party.”

TikTok is owned by a Beijing-based ByteDance, but the company has previously said that U.S. user data is stored in the United States (with a backup in Singapore).

India recently blocked the app along with 58 others.

Can you imagine telling a teenager they couldn’t use TikTok anymore? What kind of reaction would you get?
