RIC OCASEK from THE CARS died in New York City yesterday.  There’s no cause of death yet.  The NYPD said that he was 75, but public records list his age as 70.  Ric and the Cars were inducted into the Rock Hall just last year.


The Cars became hugely popular in the late ’70s and early ’80s, and their hits included Just What I NeededMy Best Friend’s GirlGood Times RollLet’s GoShake It UpYou Might Think, and of course Drive.

Outside of the Cars, Ric produced a lot of albums, including ones by WeezerNo DoubtNada SurfBad ReligionBad BrainsHole, and Guided By Voices.
