Slipknot Guitarist Reveals Surprising Love For These Artists

Even though Jim Root is considered one of the best metal guitarists around, it turns out that his musical tastes are a bit more rounded.

The Slipknot star is a huge fan of indie pop from the past, admitting recently to Ireland’s JOE that his time spent in European record stores helped him uncover his love.

“That’s when I started discovering Björk and Portishead, then Radiohead, Blur, and Oasis, that type of pop music,” Root revealed.

And while he says he isn’t necessarily into modern pop, there is one artist that he really enjoys. According to Root, an assistant turned him onto Ariana Grande. “I was like, ‘What is that? That’s awesome! That’s got, like, a vibe to it, you know?’ She told me what it was, and I was kind of mind blown.”
