Stranger Things’ Joseph Quinn Meets Metallica at Lollapalooza

After performing Metallica’s 1986 song Master of Puppets in the season 4 finale of the Netflix series Stranger Things, Joseph Quinn, 29, enjoyed a backstage jam session with the metal band ahead of their July 28 performance at Lollapalooza in Chicago.

James Hetfield, the band’s lead singer, praised Stranger Things and said, “I’m a big fan of it, have been since season 1. My kids and I, it’s been a bonding experience for us.”

Quinn got the chance to perform Master of Puppets with the band before they presented with a duplicate of Eddie’s guitar from the show, which Metallica signed.

After being released more than 35 years ago, Master of Puppets made its chart debut earlier this month after Eddie played guitar to the song in the show’s climactic finale while lulling some bat-like creatures from the Upside Down into submission. The song has reached No. 35 on Billboard Hot 100.

Spoiler alert: Quinn’s character, Eddie Munson, ultimately dies in the show.
