Nineteen years after the song was released, and 11 years after the video was uploaded to YouTube, System of a Down’s “Chop Suey” has reached an impressive milestone.

The video for the song garnered its 1 billionth view over the weekend. The feat not only marks a new record for the band, but it also places the group in an exclusive club that features such songs as Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” Linkin Park’s “Numb” and Guns N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine.”

The milestone comes just weeks after System released the singles “Protect the Lands” and “Genocidal Humanoidz,” the band’s first new music since 2005.

Do people watch “Chop Suey” for the video, or for the song? How do the new songs compare to classic System of a Down material?
