The Golden Globes certainly look different this year, but hey, at least they happened. Tina Fey co-hosted in New York City while her counterpart Amy Poehler was live in Beverly Hills across the country. The two hosted a bi-coastal awards show filled with virtual acceptance speeches, some live presenters, and an audience filled with frontline workers.

History was constantly being made through the night, even while happening virtually. Choe Zhao was the first woman of color and only second woman ever to take home the best director trophy.

Chadwick Boseman became the first Black actor to win a Golden Globe posthumously. His wife tearfully accepted the award.

Anya-Taylor Joy from ‘Queen’s Gambit’ became the first woman of Latin descent to win her category of best actress in a miniseries or TV film. Daniel Kaluuya and John Boyega were both the first British-born Black actors to earn the trophies in their perspective categories as well.
