The Word Of The Year Is “They”

Merriam-Webster has unveiled its word of the year.

“They” was chosen. The updated definition is “to refer to a single person whose gender identity is non-binary.”

This change was added to the dictionary in September.

M-W says searches for “they” have risen by 313 percent over the last year.
