Two-Inch Diamond Disc Could Store A Billion Blu-Rays’ Worth Of Data

Researchers in Japan are developing a ‘diamond wafer‘ capable of holding an unimaginable amount of data.

Using quantum storage techniques, the wafer – which is just two inches wide – could hold 25 exabytes of data.  That’s over 25 BILLION gigabytes – enough to fit on more than a billion Blu-Ray discs.

It’s the latest advancement in the still-developing world of quantum computing – which some experts say could be the computing equivalent of going from black & white to color.

What would you put on a billion Blu-Ray discs?
