In a move that hardly comes as a surprise, the beleaguered Woodstock 50 festival has officially been cancelled.
Organizer Michael Lang, co-founder of the original 1969 Woodstock festival, officially pulled the plug on Wednesday, blaming “a series of unforeseen setbacks” that “made it impossible to put on the festival we imagined”.
Those setbacks include the show’s original financial backers dropping out earlier this year and a last-minute venue change from New York to Maryland, after which headliners like Santana, Dead and Company, and John Fogerty began to drop out.
Are you surprised that a Woodstock 50th anniversary concert couldn’t get off the ground? Were you holding out any hope that it would still happen?
