Xbox Sales Skyrocket To 11-Year Peak

Although Xbox Series X consoles are still hard to come by, sales of Xbox Series S consoles skyrocketed in March, outselling PlayStations and Switches, according to data released Monday.

The spike comes in spite of a drop in industry hardware sales, which amounted to $515 million for the month — down 24 percent from March 2021, NPA data reveals. In fact, sales for the entire first quarter — $1.2 billion — were down 15 percent from 2021, per NPA.

Despite the increased dollar amount, more Nintendo Switch consoles were sold in both time periods; they just don’t cost as much as Xboxes and PlayStations.
