This year’s 4th of July was a hot one – in fact, researchers at the University of Maine say it was the hottest day on record.

Tuesday reached a global average temperature of 62.9 degrees Fahrenheit, breaking the previous record of 62.6 set on… July 3rd, just one day earlier.

Technically, those records only go back to 1979 – but some scientists believe it was Earth’s hottest day in over 125,000 years.

Did the summer heat affect your 4th of July plans?  How concerned are you about climate change and its impact on the future?
