You’ve likely heard the phrase, “happy wife – happy life.” Well, it turns out that is very much the case, according to a new study.

The journal Psychological Science recently published the findings. It shows that  keeping one’s spouse happy not only saves a person from marital headaches, but you’ll live longer too.

Olga Stavrova, the study’s author at Tilburg University in the Netherlands, notes that spousal satisfaction affected mortality.

“People who have a happy, active spouse, for example, are likely to have an active lifestyle themselves,” says Stavrova. “If your partner is depressed and wants to spend the evening eating chips in front of the TV — that’s how your evening will probably end up looking, as well.”

With all of this in mind, how much longer are you going to live? I suspect I’ll be living forever, but my spouse might think differently.
