Billy Corgan Admits Smashing Pumpkins Hit “Ripped Off” A Rush Song

Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan says his first breakout hit was basically a Rush knockoff.

Corgan once admitted that the opening of “Cherub Rock” is “ripped off from “By-Tor and the Snow Dog” by Rush. It’s a straight rip-off of Rush.”

Corgan has always been open about his love of classic rock, from Rush to Black Sabbath to Van Halen.
