ER Nurse Shares List Of Candy To Avoid Giving Out On Halloween
An emergency room nurse has unveiled her list of candies people should avoid giving away on Halloween – if they don’t want to make the holiday more terrifying than it already is.
The nurse, who goes by Emergency Room Emily on TikTok, says there are three items that often send children to the E.R. “Number one: Dum Dums,” Emily writes. “Don’t be a dumb-dumb and give little kids lollipops the same size as their tiny little airways. They could get stuck.”
The next two items on Emily’s list are nearly the same as one another. “Number two is peanut butter,” she writes. “One out of every 40 kids in the United States is allergic to peanut butter — that’s 2.5 percent of kids. Peanuts are the leading cause of allergy-related death in the US for kids. Number three is nuts. For the same reason, kids can be allergic.”
One TikTok commenter offers what he considers a healthy alternative to lollipops and nuts. “Instead, give them a toothbrush and toothpaste,” he writes. “That way, the kids TP your house, which builds muscle and hand-eye coordination!”
