Nonpoint with Hed p.e., sumo cyco, and VRSTY at Mercury Ballroom on Tuesday, December 12th.

Sumo Syco owned the room and made new fans.  Lead singer Skye could sing clearly with her powerful voice and then give a rock growl that felt natural, that you could feel.  Lead guitarist Matt played to her energy and even took her for a ride through fans on his shoulders.  Oscar laid down the bass lines perfectly for Skye to ride and Joey and another gear or two as the rock seemed easy for him to keep up with as he played with the crowd even as they covered System of a Down.

Jared Gomes the lead singer of Hed P.E. was greeted by the Mercury Room chanting his band’s name.  The Southern California vibe had the room singing all of the band’s songs as rock, reggae and Ska made the room bounce.  His vocals even took out a speaker that was quickly fixed by the sound crew at the Mercury Ballroom in Louisville, Kentucky.  The musicianship of this band should not be taken for granted even as Gomes sang “If you push me, I’ll push you right back” to the pit that was happy to shove each other.

Elias of Nonpoint had fun with a guy that dressed in a banana suit as the band rocked the Mercury Ballroom.  “Are you ready to go bananas Kentucky” as the band played songs that fans screamed along to.  Drummer Robb Rivera played his kit sideways and wandered the stage between songs.  Elias called for a shot of Jack Daniels to help him.  It did, as a night of great rock made a Tuesday feel like the weekend.
