Green Day Plays Original Version Of ‘Basket Case’

Green Day decided to dust off an “embarrassing” bit of their past at Monday’s iHeartRadio Music Awards.

The band performed “Bobby Sox” and “Basket Case” – and for the latter, they used the original demo lyrics for the second verse.

The lyrics, which Billie Joe Armstrong calls “embarrassingly bad”, surfaced in a demo recording included on the recent Dookie 30th anniversary edition.

Green Day were one of two recipients of The Landmark Award, along with R&B legends, TLC.
