Lorde Delays Album Release After Her Dog Dies

Fans will have to wait a little longer for new music as Lorde put her follow-up to Melodrama on the back burner while she deals with a tragic loss.

Taking to her subscriber newsletter, the singer let fans know about the death of her beloved dog, Pearl, last month.

“So I’m asking for your patience, as 2020 comes around and you start to wonder where the next record is. I have lost my boy, and I need some time to see the good again, to finish making this for you,” she admits, adding the direction of the work will change.

When Lorde adopted Pearl last year, she noted how he had become “instrumental to the discovery that was taking place” as she began writing her third album.
