Charleston’s Pat Kelsey has accepted the head coaching job at Louisville, replacing Kenny Payne.

Kelsey, with a 261-122 record and four NCAA Tournament appearances, is set to be officially announced tomorrow.

He was not the Cardinals’ first choice, but emerged as the top candidate after a tumultuous coaching search.

Kelsey is part of the Chris Mack and Dino Gaudio coaching trees, adding an interesting twist to the Louisville program’s history.
