Over 50 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home during the Fourth of July, setting a new record.

US domestic travel over the long weekend will increase by 2.1 million people compared to 2022 and surpass the 2019 total of 49 million American travelers, per AAA Travel data.

AAA predicts 43.2 million people will drive to their holiday destinations, up from almost two and a half percent in 2022.

Over four million Americans will fly for Independence Day, up over eleven percent from 2022 and more than six percent from 2019. The cost of travel is also up in 2023, with airline fares up 40–50 percent, hotel stays up slightly, and car rental prices down slightly.
