Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil calls the band’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nomination “bittersweet“.

Thayil told Billboard he needed some time to wrap his head around being nominated, but decided it was important “for the legacy of Soundgarden” and late singer Chris Cornell.

Thayil says the nomination is “bittersweet” but that “Chris would be pleased with it”. He’s also glad that original bassist Hiro Yamamoto was included in the nomination.

Do you think Soundgarden will make the cut for the Hall? What other bands from the ‘grunge’ scene deserve a Hall nod?
