There was some stiff competition in the Best Metal Performance category, but Tool came out on top at the Grammys on Sunday with “7empest”.
The track, off last year’s Fear Inoculum, beat out the likes of Candlemass, Death Angel, I Prevail, and Killswitch Engage.
During their acceptance speech, drummer Danny Carey joked, “Wow, it kind of renews my faith in humankind out there that there’s fans that can listen to a 12-minute song.”
Carey also gave a nod to the late Neil Peart, listing the Rush legend along with other “great drum gods”.
Was Tool the right choice for the award? Which other bands could have been contenders in the category?
