‘Transformers’ Edges Out ‘Spider-Man’ At The Box Office

In an epic battle straight out of a comic book, the Transformers have defeated Spider-Man at the box office.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts took the #1 spot with $60.5 million in its opening weekend, narrowly beating out Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse with $55.4 million.

Disney’s live-action The Little Mermaid reboot took third place with $22.8 million.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ($7 million) and The Boogeyman ($6.9 million) rounded out the top five.

What will be the biggest-grossing movie of the summer?  Will anyone beat out Super Mario Bros.?
