Underground Sounds Record Store Closing in May After Nearly 30 Years

Underground Sounds in Germantown is being closed this coming May after nearly 30 years in business.

According to Craig Rich, the owner of Underground Sounds, the cost of rising rent and new building ownership has pushed the local independent record store to close its doors for good.

Rich launched Underground Sound back in 1995. At this point, Rich said he’s not sure if he will relocate the business or close it permanently after he vacates the Barret Avenue building.

As one of the few remaining true record stores left in Louisville, the closing will be another hit to the local music scene.

As for the soon-to-be vacant space, it is planned to become a new tequila bar.
