Why Mike McCready Hated ‘Vitalogy’

Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready says he’s not a big fan of the band’s 1994 album Vitalogy – for a variety of reasons.

He once told Rolling Stone “When I heard the final album, I didn’t really like it, which may have been because I was so f****d up when we were recording it”.

Vitalogy was made during a tough time for Pearl Jam – the band was feuding with Ticketmaster, Eddie Vedder was growing uncomfortable with fame, drummer Dave Abbruzzese left the band, and McCready checked into an alcohol rehab program shortly after the record was done.

Despite that, it contains some of the band’s signature hits, like “Better Man” and “Corduroy”.
