Woman Uses Glitch To Get Free Gas – And Ends Up With Felony Charges

A Nebraska woman thought she’d figured out a trick to get free gas – until she was charged with felony theft.

The 45-year-old suspect is accused of stealing more than $28,000 in gas by exploiting a software glitch that allowed users to pump gas for free by double-swiping their rewards card – which put the gas pump into ‘demo mode’.

Investigators say she used the trick more than 500 times over a seven-month stretch, pumping more than 7,400 gallons of free fuel.

Who should be liable here – the woman for stealing gas, or the gas station for allowing this exploit?
